The City of Methuen does not currently authorize or permit cottage food operations. The preparation or sale of food products from a private residence is not permitted under local health regulations.
Individuals seeking to produce or sell food items to the public must utilize a licensed commercial or commissary kitchen that complies with all applicable requirements of the Massachusetts Food Code and local Board of Health regulations.
All food intended for retail sale or public consumption must be prepared, stored, and packaged in a facility that is properly inspected and permitted by the Board of Health.
